Avoid Fuel Pump Problems This Winter

December 29th, 2017 by

One of our most underappreciated items we own is our automobile. It’s always there, typically fires right up when we turn the key. Away we go without a care in the world. With a little preventative maintenance, our cars will take us well over 100,000 miles. But did you know one of the most important things you can do to help your car last longer is keeping a full fuel tank in the winter?

Fuel systems in our automobiles have to be cooled just like the rest of our engine. The way our fuel system is cooled is actually with the fuel itself. Our fuel tank acts as a cooling device around our fuel pump. If the fuel pump is not always being cooled, it runs the risk of failure, leaving you with an automobile that will not start. The fuel pump needs a steady stream of fuel in order to keep it nice and cool. The best way to do this is to keep that tank full.
