4WD or AWD: What’s the Difference

November 29th, 2017 by

As seasons change, the question often arises whether you should consider buying an all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle. At Waseca Chrysler Center we will be happy to help you make the best decision based on what you need.

Off-road or Work?

Is it for work or use off-road? 4WD with locking trans-axles is probably your best choice. The lower gearing will provide more torque and keep you from getting stuck. Many vehicles also offer controls to help you decide when to use it. Giving you greater control over the process.

Paved Roads?

Do you drive on paved roads that are subject to adverse weather? AWD may be more appropriate. It’s often designed to sense the conditions and respond appropriately quicker than you would be able to. To learn more about 4WD and AWD, get in touch with the sales team at our location in Waseca, MN.
